The cultural center located between land and sea, the MuCEM, opened its doors in June 2013. This space was designed as a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean. And as a bridge between civilizations. So it is a place open to the world, in which exhibitions, meetings and debates related to the life of the Mediterranean, but also the rest of Europe, are held.
The exhibition "Un moment si doux," or “A moment so sweet,” currently on there, belongs to this scenario. We discover 137 photographs depicting the 72-year-old artist’s many journeys. Among them, 23 were taken in Marseille, and created especially for the show.
Color is the central theme of this exhibition. Faithful to black and white, Raymond Depardon nevertheless captured the hues of the places he visited throughout his career, including Marseille. As usual, the photographer immortalized moments of life, of the real. Moments in time exalted by the contrasts of this multicultural city.
The exhibition honors the photographer’s colorful career, but also the city that is hosting his work at the moment.
