In Burkina Faso, Olivier Baussan partnered with local women whose hands had long known the value of shea. Each nut carefully processed, each gesture carrying its own wisdom. He asked for the highest concentration possible. The result: a cream as generous as the bond it grew from, blending shared savoir-faire and effective care.

In 1980, a master soapmaker with no heir entrusted Olivier Baussan with everything: his recipes, his equipment, his savoir-faire, passed down like a torch. The cauldron bubbled. The air grew fragrant. Haute-Provence's tradition, reinvented, its soul distilled into every bar.

In 1996, a visually impaired customer's words changed everything. L'Occitane en Provence took up the challenge: engraving its packaging with Braille, a quiet sensory gesture that opened the world of beauty to all. A pioneering act, as natural as it was bold.
