Respecting Biodiversity
We love Provence and the South of France. After all, that's where our roots lie. So it's only natural that we should want to protect and promote the biodiversity of the Mediterranean Basin. This "biodiversity hotspot" is one of the richest ecosystems in the world. We intend to do our bit to protect this precious environment.
Sustainable sourcing of raw materials

We work directly with over 130 French farmers and more than 10,000 harvesters—from the immortelle fields of Corsica to the lavender fields of Provence—to ensure we use the highest quality raw materials, sourced as sustainably as possible. Rooted in nature, L’OCCITANE draws inspiration from the natural properties of plants to drive innovation. We are committed to building long-term partnerships with our producers and prioritize locally integrated supply chains with shorter transportation distances when sourcing key ingredients.
Proudly made with organic Immortelle

Most of our skincare products feature our star ingredient—Immortelle—so cultivating it in an environmentally friendly way is very important to us. We source Immortelle exclusively from producers who use organic farming methods, ensuring that no toxic chemicals enter the soil throughout the flower’s life cycle. Moreover, this means our products are safer for your skin—a true win-win!
Reforesting for future generations

TREES ARE AT THE HEART OF BIODIVERSITY
A tree brings so much to our planet. They clean our air, purify our water, protect wildlife and provide shelter & shade. Today, woodlands are facing a major crisis due to developments, climate change & disease. It is crucial this catastrophe is addressed and that is why we are so proud to be supporting PUR Projet, who to date have already planted 8.5 million trees worldwide and won’t stop there.
Organic Lavender From Provence

50% of lavender in Provence is at risk of fading out. Our White Lavender range has been introduced to help preserve the survival of lavender, encouraging biodiversity to thrive. Our lavender produced in Provence and registered as a protected designation of origin *(PDO) which guarantees the quality and traceability of the essential oil. *(Protected Designation of Origin) label - a guarantee of quality and traceability)
This much-loved flower, so symbolic of Provence, is suffering as a result of climate change. Since 2012, L'OCCITANE has been working with French ecological research institutes to find ways to save lavender, such as selecting new varieties of plants and using innovative cultivation techniques.
The Réotier Spring is a Natural Treasure

And it Must Remain So…
The extraordinary site of the Réotier spring must be protected. We worked with experts and conducted studies that took into account the biodiversity, landscape, geology, as well as the fauna and flora of this area. It was essential for us to ensure we could use this spring's incredible water without any negative impact on water flow or the surrounding environment. That's why we never collect more than 0.04% of the spring's annual discharge.
